Employee and Customer Health Safeguard Initiatives

In order to ensure a safe environment for employees, customers, drivers and visitors in the return to business at Kokomo Grain, the following practices have been implemented.

  • Before coming to a Kokomo Grain facility, all employees/visitors shall determine if they are having symptoms related to the flu or COVID-19. Symptoms may include a dry persistent cough, shortness of breath, or at least two of the following:  a fever of 100.4 degrees or greater, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or a loss of taste or smell.  Those who experience such symptoms are asked not to come to the Kokomo Grain facility, but instead to call in to report these conditions.  Symptoms should be absent for at least 72 hours prior to returning to work or visiting Kokomo Grain.

  • Anyone who has been exposed to someone who has tested positive or displayed symptoms of COVID-19 shall remain away from work/the location for at least 7-14 days to ensure the symptoms do not escalate into a positive COVID-19 case.

  • Upon entering the workplace, all employees/visitors will have their temperature monitored with an infrared thermometer to ensure that no fever exists.

  • Remote work is encouraged as much as possible, particularly for those over 65 and individuals with identified high-risk conditions that are particularly vulnerable to coronavirus.

  • All employees will regularly clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces throughout their respective buildings. They should use disinfectant wipes with at least 60% alcohol to clean such surfaces and clean counters, desks, phones, door handles, faucets and other items they touch.  Kokomo Grain will ensure that that all employees and customers have ready access to hand sanitizer, handwashing stations, or other disinfectant products.   Otherwise, hands should be washed with soap and water for 20 seconds.  Everyone should avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Reduce the sharing of work materials and spaces to the greatest extent possible. If shared, remember to clean all items thoroughly to properly disinfect.

  • Follow workplace practices as far as personal protective equipment is concerned. Masks or protective face coverings are encouraged, but not mandated.

  • Achieve social distancing by maintaining at least 6 feet of distance between you and coworkers, customers and visitors.

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and discard the tissues in a lined trash can, and then wash hands

  • Limit the number of in-person meetings, and when meeting, limit the number of participants and follow the distancing rule. Use conference calling when possible.

  • Limit travel as much as possible.

  • Enable workplace ventilation whenever possible.
